Monitoring My GAME Plan Progress

Update on My GAME Plan Progress

  • Finding Information and Resources

    • Marietta City School has blessed their students and teachers by making the most innovative technologies available in the classroom. Every classroom has  SMART Board available and the entire school has wireless Internet for teachers and students. So, finding the information and resources I need is a feasible task

  • Modifications

    • The need to modify my action plan only will come with my students who have learning disabilities. The students may need extended time to complete the assigned task.

  • Learnings So Far

    • I have learned that even though students are savvy as far as the social network does not necessarily mean they are capable of navigating through other technological and Internet resources. So, students have needed some reinforcement on some of the technological tools used.

  • Questions Risen

    • The majority of the questions have been relative to the content being taught. Despite using vivid images and detailed information during the PowerPoint presentation presented via SMART Board, there are question about the content. Hopefully, participating in the upcoming group lab sessions will satisfy any lack of knowledge students may have.

    1. Jason,
I am glad that your plan is going so very well and that your school has wireless labs. The special education department has the only wireless lab at my school. I believe that regular education needs at least three wireless labs – one for each grade level. The only suggestion I have for you is that you keep doing what you are doing for your students. They are truly “blessed” to have such a dedicated teacher. LaVerne

    2. I'm sure all will be much clearer after your labs. There's nothing like getting a chance to try something on your own to gain a real understanding of it! have you used any of the biology tools on the Smartboard? The frog dissection is pretty cool! Also, there are some great rollercoaster building tools online that kids seem to really enjoy for physics!

    3. Teaching students with disabilities can be very difficult. Below are a cople of strategies that can be used to help these students learn.
-Begin class with a review of the previous lecture and an overview of topics to be covered that day. At the conclusion of the lecture, summarize key points.
-Highlight major concepts and terminology both orally and visually. Be alert for opportunities to provide information in more than one sensory mode.
-Emphasize main ideas and key concepts during lecture and highlight them on the blackboard or overhead.
-Speak directly to students; use gestures and natural expressions to convey further meaning.
